Spotting Stress: How to Notice the Signs and Take Action, featuring Protecting Kids from Online Financial Exploitation

Everyone feels stressed sometimes. School, work, friends, and family can all add pressure. A little stress can push us to get things done, but too much stress can make life feel really hard. The first step is learning how to notice when stress is starting to build up.

Recognizing & Reducing Stress 

Stress can show up in different ways. Maybe you feel extra tired, have trouble paying attention, or get annoyed easily. It can also affect your body, like giving you headaches, stomach aches, or keeping you up at night. Since stress looks different for everyone, it’s important to know what your own signs are.

The YouTube video Are You Stressed? Recognizing & Reducing Stress, from Dr. Jennifer Andrews, explains how to spot stress through physical signs like headaches and fatigue, and emotional signs like anxiety or irritability. It identifies common triggers such as work pressure, life changes, and daily hassles while emphasizing strategies that fit your lifestyle and practicing them consistently for better well-being. 



Managing Stress

Once you know your signs, the next step is finding healthy ways to deal with stress. That doesn’t mean ignoring your problems. It means finding tools that make challenges easier to handle. Everyone is different, so you may need to try a few ideas to see what works best for you. 

The CDC’s “Living With Stress” page explains that stress is a normal response to life challenges but can harm physical and mental health if chronic. Common signs include emotional changes, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, and physical symptoms. They recommend coping strategies such as taking breaks from news and social media, practicing gratitude, exercising, getting enough sleep, eating well, and connecting with supportive people.
