National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day


National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day is observed every year on May 12. The goal of this day is to help people learn more about fibromyalgia, a long-term condition that causes widespread pain, tiredness, sleep problems, and trouble focusing or thinking clearly. It’s also a time to support those who live with fibromyalgia and push for better research, diagnosis, and treatment.


People and groups around the world mark this day by:


  • Hosting events to share information
  • Raising money for research
  • Lighting up buildings in purple, which is the awareness color for fibromyalgia
  • Wearing purple clothing to show support
