Using Comedy to Challenge Ableism, featuring Breaking Barriers

Laughter is a powerful way to challenge ableism. Disabled comedians use humor to break stereotypes, call out discrimination, and change how people see disability. Their jokes entertain and educate, making tough topics easier to understand. By taking control of the punchlines, they show that disability isn’t a tragedy—it’s a life full of humor, strength, and perspective.

Everything You Know About Disability Is Wrong Podcast

The "Everything You Know About Disability is Wrong" podcast is hosted by Erin Hawley and Lily Newton, both disabled women, and provides an authentic exploration of navigating life as a disabled adult. Conversations feature disabled leaders, advocates, and content creators, challenging assumptions and stigmas with thoughtful honesty and witty humor.

In Episode 16, "Changing Expectations Through Comedy with Tina Friml", guest Tina Friml shares her unique experiences navigating the comedy scene as a person with a disability. The discussion delves into misconceptions about disabilities, the role of humor and radical self-acceptance, and how Tina transforms casual ableism into comedic material.
