World of Writing

Like any other art form, writing is an amazing way to express yourself. Whether through paper or online, for an audience or just for yourself, there are a lot of wonderful ways writing can lead to self improvement, higher self esteem, and other benefits. Let's get together for our final blog post of 2022, to learn how to get your next story started.

When writers start out, one the first things that comes to mind is how others will view what you've written. For some, this might be a worry, since you never know how someone will feel about what you've written. However, no matter the reaction to your writing, there's only one person who knows the real quality of your work: yourself. In this TEDTalk YouTube video, U.K author Beth Reekles describes her experience of using writing as a form of escapism growing up, and how she eventually wrote a smash hit, and got a deal from a publishing house.

Three Ways to Write for Yourself

So you want to start writing for yourself, but aren't sure where to begin. Luckily, we were fortunate enough to discover a guide to self-writing from author Jeff Goins. Goins, an accomplished writer and blogger, has listed out several ways to start writing for yourself, including problem-solving, self-examination, and more.

Our last resource aims to make writing into a fun activity, as well as a form of self-expression. These 7 activities have a lot of variety, including challenges, story prompts, and even includes some poetry. These activities are amazingly fun, and should be a good time to anyone starting to write not only for themselves, but for any reason they wish.

Author's Note: We won't have a chat or blog the week of Dec 26-Dec 30th. The youth chat will return on Jan 4th, and the first blog post of 2023 will be on January 5th.
