Hispanic Heritage Month 2022

September 15th to October 15th, Hispanic Heritage Month (or HHM) is celebrated throughout the United States. This is a monthlong time of celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. This week, we're covering the definition and importance of Hispanic Heritage Month, as well as showing off some fun ways to celebrate it yourself. 

For anyone looking for facts about HHM, we have a great post from the University Of Texas at San Antonio. This article contains a short YouTube video about why Hispanic culture is still relevant in the U.S, and the article also has interesting facts about the holiday month itself. A quick read and watch for anyone looking for info about HHM.


National Hispanic Heritage Month


 hispanicheritagemonth.gov has a collection of resources that are centered entirely on HHM-related events and history. Events like museum openings and concerts, as well as research guides and history lessons, can all be found in one place on the main website. 


If you're interested in ways to celebrate this month in a more low-key, personal kind of way, then check out 6 Ways to Celebrate Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month from Boys & Girls Club Of America's website. Here, there a re 6 different ways one can celebrate HHM without having to go to a huge parade or event. These ways range from playing traditional Hispanic games, to trying new Latino recipes in the kitchen, or just sitting down and enjoying books and films from Latino creators.
